Step 1 Greetings
Greet the Ss : How are you doing today?
Have you adjusted yourselves to the study life ?
How’s your summer holidays?
Step 2 Free-talk
1. Ask the Ss to work in pairs to talk about how they spent their summer holidays (give them 5 to 10 minutes)
2. example questions:
Did you make a plan for the holidays?
Have you gone travelling?
Where did you go?
Did you get a part-time job to enrich yourself?
What was it?
…
3. Presentation
Ask three or four Ss to do a presentation about what his or her partner did during the summer holidays
4. Discussion
Ask the Ss to discuss whose summer holidays are wonderful and explain why
Step 3 Watching the video
1. Watch the video for the first time and let them know the main idea of the video.
2. Watch the video for the second time and stop to explain some new words.
3. Write all the new words on the blackboard.
Yankee: 美国佬(美国南方人对北方人的蔑称)
Fiddle-dee-dee:口语中的感叹词,表示不耐烦的意思。
Buddy:密友,伙伴。
Barbecue:吃烤烧肉的野餐。
Whoopee:表示兴奋激动的心情时的叫声。
Goody:伪善的,感伤的。
Tattletale:告密者,搬弄是非的人。
Mealy-mouthed:说话拐弯抹角的,说话委婉的。
Ninny:笨人,傻子
4. Read the new words after the teacher.
